Solar quotes, from the front yard.
Walk to the street. Tell us about your power bill. Our AI reads your roof orientation, pitch, shade conditions, and unobstructed panel area — then sizes a system, applies your federal and state rebates, and quotes the install. CEC-accredited.
How solar quoting actually works
Camera on. Walk through. Talk through what you want. A licensed Australian tradie signs off in under an hour.
Solar in Australia in 2026 is one of the best home upgrades on the market: cheaper than at any point in history, with rebates still meaningful, and battery economics finally tipping into clearly positive territory. But the quote market is chaotic — dozens of door-knockers, wildly inconsistent panel-and-inverter combinations, and rebate calculations that nobody can independently verify. Quotefor.au exists to bring transparency.
Every quote we provide includes the actual federal STC value calculated for your address, the inverter and panel brand by model number, the warranted system output, and the real expected payback period based on current feed-in tariffs in your distribution zone. We use Tier 1 panels (Trina, LONGi, REC, Q.CELLS) and Sungrow, Fronius or SolarEdge inverters as standard. Premium options (Enphase microinverters) available at quote time.
Battery is a different conversation. The Tesla Powerwall 3 and Sungrow SBR series have changed the maths in 2025. With current battery prices and a typical 6.6kW solar system, payback for an added 10kWh battery has come down from 12+ years to 7–9 years — and that's before any blackout-protection value. Our quote will model both your solar-only and solar-plus-battery options so you can decide based on numbers, not vibes.
What our vision model scans for
Trained on more than 26,000 Australian residential jobs across every state and climate zone.
Roof orientation & pitch
From a walkaround at street level, the AI reads roof azimuth (compass orientation) and pitch — both crucial inputs to expected annual output.
Available panel area
We map each roof plane and identify unobstructed area free of vents, skylights, antennas. Determines the maximum array size.
Shade analysis
Trees, neighbouring buildings, even powerlines — we identify shade-throwing objects and flag the time-of-day impact for the installer.
Bill size & usage pattern
'$680 a quarter, mostly evening, two EVs.' The AI sizes the system and battery to your actual consumption — not a generic 'average household'.
Every solar quote, itemised.
Indicative line items. The AI scopes which apply to your specific job — and the licensed tradie signs off the final pricing.
Three common solar price brackets.
Your real quote depends on your actual job. These are typical Australian ranges in 2026 for context.

Solar quotes, answered.
Things homeowners ask before they book. If yours isn't here, the AI will answer during your walkthrough.
What rebates apply to my install?
Federal STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates) apply Australia-wide and reduce the upfront cost of any system under 100kW. The value is determined by your postcode's solar zone and the year. In 2026, for a typical 6.6kW system in Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane, STCs are worth $1,800–$2,400. State-level rebates and interest-free loans exist in VIC (Solar Homes), NSW (low-income), ACT, SA, and Tasmania. Our quote applies all rebates you qualify for automatically.
How long until solar pays for itself?
Solar-only on a 6.6kW system: typically 4–7 years payback in capital cities, 3–5 years in regional QLD/WA with high power prices. Battery payback (on top of solar): 7–9 years for a 10kWh Powerwall 3 in 2026 — finally meaningful, after years of being marginal. Your quote will include a payback calculation based on your actual bill.
Are the installers accredited?
Every installer on Quotefor.au is CEC-accredited (Clean Energy Council) and licensed for electrical work in their state. STC rebate eligibility requires CEC accreditation, so this is non-negotiable. You can look up any installer on the CEC website using their accreditation number, which we include on the quote.
Should I get a battery now or wait?
If your usage is high (>$400/quarter) and you have $13–18k available, now is the first year batteries have made unequivocal economic sense in most of Australia. If your bill is smaller or you'll be moving in 3 years, solar-only is the better choice. Our quote shows both side-by-side.
What about feed-in tariffs?
Feed-in tariffs (what your retailer pays for solar you export) have fallen — most retailers now pay 4–7c/kWh, down from 14c+ five years ago. This is why batteries make sense now: storing your own solar for evening use is worth more than exporting it. We use current feed-in tariffs in your distribution zone for the payback calculation.
Can the battery power the house in a blackout?
Yes, but only if the install is 'backup-ready'. This requires an additional gateway (Tesla Backup Gateway or Sungrow Backup Box) and modified wiring at the switchboard. Adds $1,400–$2,800 to the install but means you have whole-home power during outages. We quote with and without backup so you can decide.
