Three steps, any category.
The Quotefor.au process is the same whether you're quoting a single tile repair or a full kitchen rebuild.
1. Show us the job. Open Quotefor.au in your browser (no app, no account). Point your camera at whatever needs quoting. Talk through what you want changed — in plain English, the way you'd describe it to a tradie standing next to you. Our AI listens, watches, asks clarifying questions when it needs to, and times the whole thing at under a minute on average.
2. Get a real quote. Within an hour (usually within fifteen minutes), a licensed Australian tradie in your state has reviewed the AI's scope, adjusted line items where their experience says it matters, and signed off. The quote is itemised, GST-correct, and valid for 30 days. It looks like the kind of document you can show your partner, your strata, or your bank.
3. Book or shop around. Plenty of homeowners use Quotefor.au as a sanity check — they get a number from us, then go shop around for a paper quote from a local tradie, and use ours as the floor for negotiating. We're fine with that. If you do book through us, the same tradie who reviewed your quote does the work, and we're the named party on the workmanship warranty.
What's different about quoting with AI?
Three things. First, speed. A traditional residential quote takes 7–14 days from first call to paper in hand — a tradie has to travel to your house, take measurements, type it up, email it. We collapse that to under an hour because the measuring and typing happen automatically. Second, consistency. Our AI uses the same line-item structure across every quote, in every category. There's no haggling over what's included; the answer is always written down. Third, marketplace upside. We're the only quoting service in Australia that automatically spots the resale value of what you're removing — old ovens, vanities, decking boards, panels — and credits it against your job cost.
What can't AI quote yet?
A few things, honestly. Anything structural (load-bearing walls, foundations, major engineering) still needs a tradie on site. Heritage-listed homes with one-off conditions usually need a physical inspection. And any job where access is genuinely difficult to capture on camera (sealed roof cavities, locked subfloors) needs a follow-up. In those cases we'll tell you upfront and refund any deposit if you'd rather go elsewhere. We'd rather be honest about the edge cases than pretend the AI is omniscient.
